In July 23, CTT presented a philatelic broadcast celebrating the centenary of the most iconic fado singer in Portugal, Amália Rodrigues.
The launching ceremony of the Commemorative Philatelic Emission of the Centenary of the birth of Amália Rodrigues, will take place next Thursday, July 23, at the National Pantheon, in Lisbon, and will be attended by the Minister of Culture, Graça Fonseca, from President of the Amália Rodrigues Foundation, Professor Joaquim Vicente Rodrigues and of the Executive President of CTT, João Bento.
One of the stamps shows a balandrau of strong colors from the collection of the Amália Rodrigues Foundation and as a background Amália in Brejão in the 1980s;
The philatelic block stamp has Amália on the left side in a concert in Carthage, in 1972;
According to Joaquim Vicente Rodrigues, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fundação Amália Rodrigues, “Amália Rodrigues is a unique symbol of Portugal, in its simplest genuineness and magic of the senses.
This philatelic issue consists of two stamps, one with a face value of € 0.53 and another with a face value of € 0.86, both with a circulation of 100,000 copies each;
The first day's obliterations will be made at Restauradores stores in Lisbon, Municipality II in Porto, Zarco in Funchal and Antero de Quental in Ponta Delgada.
