This issue, on self-adhesive labels, is intended to make known sea slugs, which include nudibranchs or sea hares. They often have loud colors and extravagant forms that few feel indifferent. Their beauty and grace in the water are only comparable to those of butterflies in the land. Sea slugs are mollusks, such as octopuses or clams, but are more closely related to shells, snails and terrestrial slugs, which are gastropods.
The Algarvian Alba, just over an inch long, is among the least known and observed species in the world. In 1988, during an international expedition to the Algarve, two specimens were collected in Sagres which later revealed to be of a new species for science, which was described in 1989. Its name alludes to the place of discovery (Algarvia) and its predominant color, white (alba).
