Tarjeta maxima Francisco de Quevedo Villegas (Yvert & Telier 743)

Carimbo datado de 08 jun 1953 12 m

Stamp: Spain, "Spanish Personalities" Series – Francisco de Quevedo y Villegas – 40 Céntimos, Brown (Edifil 989 / Yvert 743). Issued in 08.09.1945.

Postmark: Madrid, Special Commemorative Postmark (Lobulated) – Feria Nacional del Libro, dated June 8, 1953.

Postcard: Classic portrait of Francisco de Quevedo (engraving). Numbered edition (copy no. 27), with an explicit notation on the reverse stating that the print run was created exclusively for this specific postcard and postmark combination.

Concordance

Thematic: Superior. The concordance goes beyond the visual portrait. As Quevedo is one of the greatest exponents of Castilian literature, using his stamp with a "National Book Fair" postmark creates a profound intellectual link between the author and the celebration of his legacy: the book.
Geographic: Absolute. The event took place in Madrid, Quevedo's birthplace and the epicenter of Spanish literary life. The location of the postmark coincides both with the commemorative event and the author's biography.
Temporal: Specialized. Although the stamp was issued in 1948, its use in 1953 is justified by its postal validity and, primarily, by the significance of the event. The June 8, 1953 date falls within the fair's period, making the piece a historical witness to that specific literary gathering.

Tarjeta Maximum Juan Ramon Jimenez

Stamp: Spain, "Spanish Personalities" Series – Juan Ramón Jiménez (1956 Nobel Prize in Literature) – 1.50 Pesetas, Blue/Green (Issue: 21/09/1970).

Postmark: Moguer (Huelva), Circular Date Stamp (CDS) – Dated February 20, 1978, within the stamp's first year of circulation.

Postcard: Reproduction of a lyrical portrait of Juan Ramón Jiménez by the painter Daniel Vázquez Díaz. Edition of the "Casa-Museo Zenobia y Juan Ramón Jiménez" (Moguer, Huelva).

Concordance

Thematic: Perfect. Both the stamp and the postcard illustration feature the portrait of Juan Ramón Jiménez. The postcard explicitly identifies the artist (Vázquez Díaz) and the writer's Nobel Prize status.

Geographic: Absolute. The postmark is from Moguer (Huelva), the poet's birthplace, providing the maximum geographic concordance required in maximum card collecting (maximaphily).

Temporal: Excellent. The postcard was printed in 1974, as evidenced by the Legal Deposit on the reverse, and the postmark was subsequently applied in 1978. This confirms that the card already existed and was contemporary to the use of the stamp which, although issued in 1970, remained perfectly valid and in circulation at the time of cancellation.

Postmark: Manual "Duplex" cancel — Camden, N.J. — dated February 24, 1941. The postmark consists of a circular date stamp (CDS) and an elliptical barred "killer" containing the numeral "2," used to invalidate the postage.

Postcard: Art postcard featuring a photographic portrait of Walt Whitman, depicting the poet with his iconic wide-brimmed hat and long white beard. Edition Bazos

Concordance:

Thematic: Maximum thematic concordance. Both the stamp and the postcard feature the portrait of Walt Whitman, the "Good Gray Poet." The visual identity between the postcard's illustration and the stamp's effigy is absolute, representing the poet's unmistakable late-life aesthetic.

Geographic: Absolute geographic concordance. The stamp was issued by the U.S. Post Office, and the cancellation was applied in Camden, New Jersey. Camden is the city where Whitman lived his final 19 years and where his tomb is located, providing a direct link between the postal origin and the author's biography.

Temporal: High temporal concordance. The cancellation is dated February 24, 1941, within the first year of the stamp's circulation. While not a first-day cancellation, the date aligns with the period of peak philatelic interest in the "Famous Americans" series and celebrates the poet's legacy in his home city.
