Maxicard Roman Amphitheatre of El Djem (Thysdrus) – Tunisia (1f50)

Issue: Roman Amphitheatre of El Djem (Thysdrus) – Tunisia (1f50)

Date of Issue: 15/01/1931

Postmark: Circular Date Stamp (CDS) – El Djem, Tunisia – 04/05/1939

Postcard: Panoramic view of the ruins of the Roman amphitheatre at El Djem (ancient Thysdrus), with surrounding stone structures in the foreground and the massive oval colosseum dominating the background under a clear blue sky. Caption at the bottom reads: “El Djem (Thysdrus), Tunisie – Théâtre Romain et Panorama.” (Vintage edition, Phototypie Etbts)

Justification of Maximum Concordance:
This maximum card exhibits excellent thematic and geographic concordance. The stamp depicts the Roman amphitheatre of El Djem, and the postcard shows the same historic monument in its real setting. The cancellation from El Djem reinforces geographic relevance. Temporal concordance is strong, as the postmark date falls within a reasonable period after the stamp’s issue.
