Date of Issue: Apr 4, 2002
Postmark: Circular Date Stamp (CDS) - Lincoln, Nebraska – APR 4, 2002
Postcard: Color illustration in the silhouette/map outline of Nebraska showing a covered wagon pulled by oxen crossing the prairie; caption reads “WELCOME TO NEBRASKAland… WHERE THE WEST BEGINS,” evoking pioneer overland migration imagery.
Justification of Maximum Concordance:
Strong thematic and geographic concordance. The stamp is the Nebraska design from the 2002 Greetings from America state series, and the postcard’s artwork explicitly promotes Nebraska with pioneer/Old West motifs that mirror the stamp’s touristic theme. The cancellation from Lincoln, NE (the state capital) on the day of issue secures full geographic and temporal concordance for a maximum card.
